Hello all,

I am going to talk to you about configs, which are also known as .cfg files.
There are many kinds of cfg files, but they are devided into two groups.
One group of cfgs is used for a server, the other one is used for a player.
I am going to talk to you about that second one today.
Before I can really teach you somthing about it, you have to know what it is.
A cfg file can change alot, almost all of your settings in ET and save them.
For example, your gamma, fov, sensitivity, brightness, connection type, fps, and much much much more.
It can also be used for your convenience, like not having to type alot to change name or say somthing you have to say alot, for example, a sentence you say to players whom want to join your clan.
Now lets stop the chatting about what it is because you will learn while I am telling you about it.

Let's start with teaching you how to make and use a config.
Please follow my steps correctly without doing anything diffirent because I assume you do not know alot about cfgs, meaning you could F*** up easier than you might think.

First of all we go to our etmain folder.
This folder is located in our Wolfenstein ET folder.
Your etmain folder is the folder where you save all your maps etc...

If you are there make a new notepad file called "one.cfg" make sure it is called "one.cfg" and not "one.cfg.txt."
(one can be replaced with everything but I advice to not make the name too big)

After you did that save it.
Now lets say you want to make a bind.
To do that follow the steps below;
-Open one.cfg
-Write:
Code:
bind P say Hello.
-Close it and save it.

To use it follow the steps below;
-Open ET
-Join a server
-Open console
-Execute your config by typing "/exec one.cfg" and pressing enter.
-Now your new bind is loaded and you can use P to say Hello.
(some cfgs will recuire a reconnect before they work, this usualy are cfgs which edit graphics, but these cfgs are harder to make and I assume you do not have those skills yet)

Now lets make another one, saying you want to change some graphic settings.
Go to etmain agian and make a new notepad file called "two.cfg"
Save it.
Now open it and write:
Code:
Seta g_gamma 2
Seta cg_fov 100

Now to make it work open ET, go to console and write "/exec two.cfg" then press enter.
This cfg will change your FOV and your Gamma.
Gamma is compareable with brightness.
To come to know what FOV is I redirect you to my friend, Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOV)

Now you have made your first two cfgs, I agree, these are very small but this is just to teach you how to make and use cfgs, if I get enough positive reactions on this one I will consider to make another GUIDE for some more pro S***.
(Not saying I am a pro but you have to agree this is rather basic stuff)

PS: I made multiple GUIDES for cfg making, to follow them in the correct order check the (number) in the topic title
